This gorgeous Crocus
exhibits a striking two-toned effect, with rich
purple coloration on the outside, shading to paler violet on the
inside. The crisp
goblet flower form shows off to good advantage the deep outer color of the
tepals.
Here, with afternoon light shining through the flowers in a profile view,
we can see
what a fine selection this is.
The true identity of this "garden center mixup" is still being
determined, but
it's been suggested this may be a C. vernus or C. tommasinianus hybrid.
